The Cricut scoring wheel is a tool that is specially designed For the Cricut maker machines. This tool uses the Cricut Maker’s Adaptive Tool System in order to create crisp creases in materials. It uses up to 10x the pressure of the standard scoring stylus so that you can make the perfect craft with effortless folds with your Cricut! Basically, the Cricut scoring wheel contains two different tips, a single wheel tip, and a double wheel tip. A single wheel tip allows you to cut thin material like paper. And a double-wheel tip allows you to cut thicker materials such as cardboard and coated paper.
In this complete blog, I am going to cover a bunch of information that will help you understand all about the Cricut scoring wheel. Let’s learn more about them!
Cricut Scoring Wheel: An Introduction
The Cricut scoring wheel is all about making crisp creases in the materials. It uses up to 10x the pressure of the scoring stylus for better score lines on all your papercraft projects. And it is not just limited to the tools initially designed for the machine. Instead, it gave Cricut the capacity to develop new tools and several applications. We have seen the Rotary Blade and the Knife Blade, and now we have the Cricut Scoring Wheel. It is actually one housing with two different Cricut scoring wheels that you can change out as needed. The 01 tip is a single roller. And the 02 wheel is a double roller.
What Is The Difference Between The Single Cricut Scoring Wheel And The Double Cricut Scoring Wheel?
The Single Cricut Scoring Wheel creates a single score line, which is similar to the one made with the Scoring Stylus but with much more pressure to create a cleaner folding line. When looking at both scoring wheels, the Single Scoring Wheel has an “01” engraved on the side of the tool.
The Double Cricut Scoring Wheel creates two parallel lines. The Double Scoring Wheel is stunning for those heavier cardstock materials that would crack with the previous Scoring Stylus. The two parallel lines permit the material in order to fold in between the lines and prevent cracking. When looking at the double scoring wheels, the Double Scoring Wheel has an “02” engraved on the side of the tool.
What Are The Benefits Of Using A Scoring Wheel?
The scoring wheel creates extra-deep scores lines that create every fold effortlessly. This creates possible more crease-and-fold projects than ever before, including stunning wearable art, sculptures, 3D home decor, and more. The scoring wheel works best on heavier material. As a result, We get crispier and smoother output as compared to the scoring stylus.
How To Use Cricut Scoring Wheel?
Here are a few most effective tips and tricks that you might need to get started with the process of using this new tool, the Cricut Scoring Wheel:
- The Cricut scoring wheel does not need to be tested as the knife blade did.
- The software will automatically tell you whether to use the scoring wheel 01 or 02.
- You are not suggested to use fast mode while scoring, whether you use the Cricut wheel or stylus.
- You need to use the mat that is advised for the material you are using. No special mat is required when scoring.
- The pressure cannot be adjusted throughout the scoring process. The “more” and “less” functions do not apply here.
- The Cricut Maker machine will check to see that you have a Cricut scoring wheel installed in your machine. However, it can’t check to see if it is the 01 or 02 wheel. I always suggest using the one that is shown in Cricut Design Space software and suggested mended for your material type.
- The machine will ask for the Cricut scoring wheel first, then score your material. After that, you need to stop.
- Next, it will prompt to change to the blade. After changing, it will successfully complete the cut on your project.
